EXHIBITION STATEMENT

『Bodily Traces』は、生成AIを活用して身体と衣服の関係を非物質的なイメージへと再構成したファッションイメージシリーズである。本シリーズは、身体の物理的な形態を直接再現するのではなく、身体が空間の中で行った動き、圧力、回転、傾き、接触が残した軌跡を衣服の構造へと転換する。透明なレイヤーや線は、身体の外見を包み込む装飾的な要素ではなく、身体が通り過ぎた場所に生じた空気の流れ、抵抗、速度の軌跡を視覚化する造形的な装置として機能する。

生成AIは、このような不可視の動きや感覚的な痕跡を視覚化するツールとして活用され、実際の衣服制作の前段階における実験的な造形の可能性を模索する媒介となる。したがって、衣服は固定されたパターンや身体のサイズによって完成されるのではなく、身体と空間、空気、重力の間の不可視な相互作用の中で生成される流動的なシルエットとして提案される。これを通じて作品は、衣服を単に「身体の上にまとう対象」ではなく、身体の行為と空間的な反応が凝縮されて形成された造形的な痕跡へと拡張させている。

Bodily Traces is a fashion image series that uses generative AI to reconstruct the relationship between the body and clothing as immaterial images. Rather than directly reproducing the physical form of the body, the series transforms the traces left by bodily movement, pressure, rotation, inclination, and contact within space into the structural language of clothing. The transparent layers and lines do not function as decorative elements that merely envelop the external form of the body. Instead, they operate as sculptural devices that visualize the flow of air, resistance, velocity, and trajectory generated by the body’s passage through space.

In this series, generative AI is employed as a tool for visualizing invisible movements and sensory traces, serving as a medium through which experimental possibilities of form can be explored prior to actual garment production. Clothing, therefore, is not conceived as something completed through fixed patterns or bodily measurements. Rather, it is proposed as a fluid silhouette generated through invisible interactions among the body, space, air, and gravity. Through this approach, the work expands clothing beyond the notion of an object simply ‘worn on the body,’ redefining it as a sculptural trace formed by the condensation of bodily actions and spatial responses.
